What is the role of lens coating?

coated lens

When the lens was first invented, it was not coated. When people wear it for a long time, it is not only easy to scratch, but also the reflection of the object is not clear enough. Therefore, the hard film is added and the anti-reflection film is born.

What are the functions of these coating?

1. Hard coating: Resin lens has the characteristics of easy, safe and comfortable, but it is easy to scratch when worn for a long time. In order to improve the hardness of the lens, a layer of anti-wear film is added on the surface, which is a hard coating.

2. Anti-reflection coating: This film utilizes the volatility and interference of light, and if coated with such a film. When we look at things, we reduce the reflection and make the objects clearer.

3. Top coating (commonly known as anti-fouling coating): The lens coated with anti-reflection film is easy to dirty and affect the light transmittance, so adding a layer of top coating on this basis can reduce oil stain.

4. Anti-blue lens: Now the market anti-blue lens is divided into coating reflection and basic absorption. The coating reflection is a film coated with a layer of short-wave blue light, which forms a blue-violet color due to the reflection of short-wave blue light. Substrate absorption is achieved by bleeding the lens to give the lens a yellow color to absorb blue light. The lens is yellowish brown and the film layer is generally deep.
