Low vision aids are divided into optical and non-optical categories. Among the former, the glasses-type visual aids are more commonly used, and the advantages thereof are that the preparation is relatively simple, the use is convenient, and the materials are easily obtained. However, the lenses of the glasses-type visual aids are often higher-order positive lenses, so there is a speciality in fitting and use. Non-optical low vision aids do not amplify the lens or optical system, but improve the vision of patients with low vision by changing the surrounding environment, such as lights and large prints.
